Hi there (apologies if this is not the correct question
for this topic)...
1. If the MS SQL Server7 is being shutdown (or crashes)
whether by another DBA or unexpectly due to a power loss -
what do I check for to setup an alert to e-mail/net-
message users?
2. And has anyone any advice on how to setup emails/txt-
message to mobiles and pagers (whereby paging staff might
pick-up the message or an auto-telephone answering
machine).
Cheers.
Wayne1. At the OS level, you can periodically check the SQL
Server service. You can write your own or there are third
party products that provide this type of functionality.
2. You need something to interface with your pagers.
Generally a third party product of some sort. Some provide
functionality to dump a file or send an email for an alert
and then the product translates this file or email and sends
the message to the pager.
