Automating Multiple Package execution

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the process of executing multiple packages in SSIS

I have 10 packages which should be executed in an order and should be automatically executed once in a day.

Can someone suggest me any such process which will help me to achieve this

You can build a main package that integrates the other packages in sequence and then create a job that executes the main package when you want in a schedule.

As Raul said, you can achieve this with one master package which in turn calls the other 10 packages in the sequence you desire.

1) Create a new package and add 10 Execute Package Tasks in your Workflow.

2) Configure each Execute Package Task to call the package you want in order to get the right sequence.

3) Schedule a job to run the master package.

Hello,

I'm writting a Crystal report on all order sent out in the past week.
I all works fine, but I am now trying to take away all the steps I can to make it easier and quicker to run.
The report has to inputs, the ClientCode and the Date Range.
Is there any way/Code that I can use to replace the need to input a date that will get the report to take todays date as the End range ( which is does at the moment ) and the - 7 days and use the result as the Start Range?

Automatic Creation and Modification log

Hi there,

I need some help in order to reduce the amount of code needed to
implement the logging of INSERT and UPDATE in my application's
database.

In every table of my database I have four fields (CreatedBy,
CreatedTime, ModifiedBy, ModificatedTime), these fields allow me to
trace the users who create and modify the registers in my application.
I know that I can add in every stored procedure a piece of code who
uses the app user as a parameter, and insert these information in the
register. But I would like to go beyond these method. I imagine there
is a better way of doing it, and I don't like to use triggers. Is
there any method, within the SQLServer functionality, that allows me
to automate this process?

So, any help would be very appreciated!!

AUTOMATE PROCESS

Hi

Currentyl after i transfer the data from another database(source) to datawarehouse. I need to click on the "process" button in order to see the latest result. Do it have a command or way to do it programmatically or using the SSIS to do it?

Anyone please point me the link for me to do the automate process ?

There are plenty of different options

SSIS has an SSAS processing task.

You could script the processing from SSMS as an XML/A command and schedule it from SQL Agent or using the ascmd sample that was released with SP2.

You could write a .Net app using the AMO to initiate the processing.

auto numbering

Hello,

For analyses and reporting I would like to add a 'ranking' to a
table/view.
Example:
Using the 'order by desc' clause in query I get a list of Customers
ordered by Turnover (descending). I would like to add that ranking
numbers (same as recordnumbers) in the query. I would like to have the
following result:
Cust_nr Cust_Name Turnover_2004 Ranking
002234 Bayer 139.000 1
003456 Rentokill 123.456 2
001231 Air France 105.000 3
etc.

When the 'ranking' is part of the query/table I can use this ranking in
an other query.

Important: This questions is not about making an (empty) table structure
for filling in by an application and generating a new unique number each
time a record is added.

Hi Hans,

I'd recommend against storing it in the table, as you'll need to update
all rankings each time some data in the table changes. (Of course, if
you have a static database, where data won't change but that you have to
run extensive reports off, things change).

In a live database, I'd define a view to hold the ranking:

CREATE VIEW CustomersRanked
AS
SELECT Cust_nr, Cust_Name, Turnover_2004,
(SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM Customers AS b
WHERE b.Turnover_2004 > a.Turnover_2004) + 1 AS Ranking
FROM Customers AS a
ORDER BY Turnover_2004 DESC
(untested)

I have just moved over to mysql as the back end and keeping access as
front end. My database is for a ordering system. I use autonumber as
the Order Number. as mysql does not display the order number
(autonumber) until the form has been saved.
Is there a way on the order form that i can have a button that will
save the data then reopen the form so the order number ( autonumber is
displayed)
I am currently only learning about access so some nice easy instruction
would be very helpful

Auto Incrementing field

I have a asp.net form which is for orders with a field for numbers in it.
What I want is when a user raises a new order the Order number field will
be populated automatically with the next order number. I want this order
number to be incremented on the database table. The order number is of the
form 05/001 and when the next order is raised it will be 05/002. 05 is the
year.
Anyone any ideas how to do this.

PROCEDURE [Create New Order] (@.Order_Num CHAR(5) OUT)
The procedure would generate a new Order_Num, insert a row into your Orders
table (and whatever else tables), and return the order number as an output
param.
If the Order_Num needs to be known when an order is first created, run the
procedure first, fill in your field, and set the Order_Status to incomplete.
When the submit the order, change the status.

You can use an IDENTITY column plus another YEAR column (varchar).
whenever you show it to user, you just need to concat these 2 columns.
However, since YY is always current year, you can choose not to store this
value unless this column can be changed in the future.
